Is it important to release the excess water in the bath faucet after taking a shower? Thanks!?

In my bathroom I have a tub with a lever that allows to change the water flow from bath-flow to shower-flow. When I take shower, I first turn on the bath-flow, then switch the lever to shower-flow. Once I'm done taking a shower, I always turn the lever back into bath-flow, which causes the faucet to release quite a bit of water through the bath-flow. Is it necessary to do this? All the lever does is move a valve that determines where the water goes. The water that comes back out of the tub faucet is just what was in the pipe between the shower and the tub.





If you're showering daily there's no need to move the lever, since the water will just flow out of the shower when you turn it back on.





I suppose that over time (several years) having the water press on the back of the valve could cause it to leak. But hopefully you'll have remodeled by then anyway.Is it important to release the excess water in the bath faucet after taking a shower? Thanks!?
It is not necessary to open it each time when you finish. Normally the valve in question will leak a small bit and when the pressure from the shower has relieved it will open itself.
