Bath tub faucet is rusted out on the bottom and water is constantly running. How do i replace it?

Replacing a bath tub faucet can be fairly simple if done carefully.

**IMPORTANT: Turn OFF the water supply to the house and let the faucet drain out as much of the water still in the line as possible. Failure to get the pressure out of the line will make a huge mess, and if water gets behind your shower wall you could develop mold issues.**

The faucet is usually screwed on like a nut on to a bolt, but it can be fused to the copper or PVC piping. The trouble there is if you try to force it, it will break or bend the piping, and a plumber will have to come knock a giant hole in your wall and replace the damaged portion of the piping. So be very careful when trying to take the old faucet off.

Take a cloth or towel and wrap it around the faucet. You'll want to firmly but gently turn to counter-clockwise (left). Some models have a housing that goes over the top of an inner faucet, and some may even be screwed into place with pressure screws. It really just depends on your model. If you're unsure of how to remove your faucet, contact the manufacturer of your old faucet.

Be exceptionally careful in your case because the faucet may break when turning since it sounds like it's in pretty bad shape.

Be sure and use teflon tape on the threads of the pipe once the old one is removed (and its usually a good idea to clean the threads with a towel or something to remove any friction residue, be careful not to get tiny metal shards in your hand - been there).

Screw the new faucet in place clock-wise (right), and step one is complete. Apply caulk between the new bathtub faucet and the shower wall. Allow the caulk to dry for 24 hours before you enjoy your brand-new faucet

The ';water is constantly running issue'; is in your water control lever or knob. There's usually a rubber seal that goes under the handle or knob to control on/off and temperature control valves.

The knob or lever control hardware usually come in combo packs with replacement faucets for around $30 up to $400 and up depending on what the level hardware you're looking for. These can be found at your local hardware store.Bath tub faucet is rusted out on the bottom and water is constantly running. How do i replace it?
first you need to fix the leak call a plumber because you need a tools on that to open the shower handle.Inside that handle there's a part on that need to be change either a rubber gasket or the brass setting inside has a dent (there's a special tools to pull that brass setting) then change it the faucet just go to a hardware store that carry plumbing stuff then ask a faucet for tub and also the gasket and the brass setting if needs to be change. make it sure you measure the lenght of that faucet because they will ask you how long it is either 6'; or 5'; measure from end to end of that faucet to get the measurement and check also at the bottom of that faucet if the end near the wall has a small opening on it or not because some faucet has an openning at the end and there is an allen screw on it to lock up the faucet into the pipe otherwise it's just screw in the pipe tread .If no opening at the end of that faucet then all you do is get a wrench then use the wrench to turn that faucet out do it in gently way otherwise you snap the pipe or the elbow inside the wall.

I suggest call a plumber to fix it that way you dont need to worry what tools you need on that job.Bath tub faucet is rusted out on the bottom and water is constantly running. How do i replace it?
