TURN OFF AT HOT WATER HEATER OR CUT OFF VALVE.How do you fix a leaky bath/shower faucet?
First of all there are valves behind the shower cover plates to turn off the water to the hot and cold valves. Use a screwdriver to turn them off. You need special tub wrenches to remove those stems and also you need to replace the faucet seat. Another special tool. The tools are cheap. Have someone at the store who knows how to replace them show you how to use them. It is easy to do but you need the proper tools before you can even begin.
1. Turn off water to that faucet.

2. Make SURE water is turned off.

3. Remove the little cap on the faucet that covers the stem (screwdriver works)

4. Unscrew the screw you can see in there.

5. Remove the faucet cover.

6. Remove the stem and take it to your plumbing store.

7. Get a new stem. DO NOT mess with just changing washers. Just get a new stem. It should come with a new washer.

8. Replace stem.

9. Replace faucet cover, screw in the screw

10. Put the little plastic cap back on.

11. Turn the water on.

12. Pray.

Repeat as necessary with appropriate words.
