How do i fix a bath tub faucet that is not generating a flow of water?

water flow is almost non-existent from cold or hot water source. Not sure if each inflow of both hot and cold have some restriction of clogged valveHow do i fix a bath tub faucet that is not generating a flow of water?
If this is a single mixer valve, it could be the small O rings in the valve itself have deteriorated and are plugging the outlet holes in the valve. You will have to dismantle the valve to determine this. If the O rings are bad, replacement rings are available at most hardware stores. If the valves are two separate valves, the rubber/plastic seats on the ends of the valves are most likely deteriorated and are blocking the outflow. Again, the valves can be dismantled and new seats installed on the valve stems. {Turn off the water to the residence/apt. prior to dismantling the valves.}

Note: If this is in an older home with galvanized pipes, electrolysis can cause major damage inside the pipes causing rust build up inside the pipes cutting off the water flow. The rust can also break off the pipe and clog the valves.

If you cannot dismantle the valves or do not know how to inspect the pipes. Connect with a good plumbing contractor.

could also be the strainer at the end of the faucet is clogged with silt or sand. Grab the thing on the end and unscrew it, then clean out the sand or grit and reinstall.
the mixing valve is bad, you have to replace it.
